ON IMEQ.US:
COMPREHENSIVE
IMMIGRATION REFORM IS COMING - MAKE
SURE IMMIGRATION EQUALITY FOR SAME-SEX
BINATIONAL COUPLES IS
INCLUDED»
Immigration rights is a politically
charged subject and when you add LGBT
immigration to the mix it can be
difficult to swallow for some. Our
immigration system is designed to bring
Americans with loved ones from other
countries together not divide them.
OBAMA
AND EQUAL IMMIGRATION
RIGHTS»
If President Obama stands by his
commitment to equal rights for all LGBT
Americans and "improve the Uniting
American Families Act," or repeal DOMA we
will have our immigration equality once
and for all. Hold him to his promise.
EQUALITY AND
GAY IMMIGRATION RIGHTS?»
It doesn't matter if we get married in a
state that allows same-sex marriage or
even if we are legally married in the
country where we live, not with
institutions like DOMA in place. Marriage
is regulated by the individual states and
immigration is a federal issue.
TO
OUR GAY BROTHERS AND SISTERS OUT THERE
- WE NEED YOUR HELP»
As we watch you fight for same-sex
marriage rights and see the progress
being made towards equality, it is
difficult for us to celebrate with you.
Many of us are already married in other
countries, but it doesn't help us. Help
us with our immigration nightmare and
we'll fight the marriage equality battle
with you.
BINATIONAL
COUPLES - IT'S OUR TIME FOR
IMMIGRATION EQUALITY -
BELIEVE»
Our stories are sensitive ones that
involve being careful in our attempt to
be heard or we could face repercussions.
Many of us are ready to take that chance
in order to build momentum for
immigration equality. Relatively
speaking, the wait could be over soon,
because for the first time in over a
decade people are actually listening to
us.
LGBT
IMMIGRATION EQUALITY AND THE UNITING
AMERICAN FAMILIES ACT»
UAFA will help loving same-sex couples
keep their families together without
living in fear of harassment or
deportation. It would allow same-sex
couples to sponsor their “permanent
partners” for legal residency in the
United States. This right is currently
afforded to other Americans where one
partner is from another country. UAFA is
about basic equality on the federal
level, remedying injustice and it's about
compassion.
